MASTHEAD TYPOGRAPHY ANALYSIS

The masthead ROCKSOUND is simplistic yet very effective. The black sans serif font is bold and large therefore very eyecathing to the target audience. It also suites the genre of music featured in the magazine due to it being a very strong and powerful font. These attributes also portray the overall appearence of magazines to be very professional.

 professional and sophisticated. The small design that is arranged behind the beginning of the masthead adds more character to the look of the title, and is a connotation to the rock genre. The title of the magazine being 'ROCKSOUND' also infroms the audience of the genre of music featured.

The masthead of Q is simple yet offective. The red background makes the white singular letter stand out, which is very recognisable and would be eyecatching to members of the target audience. The small drop shadow behind the letter 'Q' makes it look as if it is 3D, standing out even more than any of the other mastheads, this would be the first thing that many people see when its on the shelf. It is not too overpowering, therefore fulfilling its purpose in attracting the target audience.

The masthead KERRANG! has the same colour scheme of ROCKSOUND and also has the same impact on its target audience. It is bold and in capital letters with an exclamation mark, this portrays the impression of shouting or loud noises. In addition to this there is a cracked effect on the masthead.

The magazine is called KERRANG! ad it is mean to resemble the sound of a guitar strumming, which is a key instrucment used in the rock music genre. The masthead relates to the magazine well and is very eyecatching to the target audience, therefore fulfilling its purpose.​
